Renegade Craft Fair

June 5, 2009

This weekend 300 indie artists are setting up shop in Brooklyn’s McCarren Park at the Renegade Craft Fair. Art, jewelry, stationery, home goods, clothes–lots of good stuff, including delicious food.

I’m helping my friend sell there and boy do I have a special deal for you. If you stop by the the prism Pop or pCharming booths on Sunday, I’ll give you a high five with each purchase. That’s right, you can have a hand-stinging, sound barrier-breaking high five if you buy anything from me. Our booths are located on the Lorimer side between Driggs & Bayard. I’ll be there until 3 on Sunday so come by!

Let’s Laugh at Moms

April 29, 2009

Okay, okay. I’m taking forever to post about my adventures in the South but I will! I need to finish editing my photos. In the meantime, let’s talk Mother’s Day (5/10).

Instead of a touching “you are my inspiration” card or book, I’m giving my mom a book that more or less makes fun of her peers. The blog Postcards from Yo Momma has just put a book Love, Mom: Poignant, Goofy, Brilliant Messages from Home. It features the best letters from their site and tips for moms on how to correspond better and avoid having their notes posted on their site. The below excerpt is especially hysterical to me because it was a letter from my friend’s aunt. You can buy the book here.

Running with the orthodontia theme, I found this sweet photo posted by a mother on Flickr. What an awesomely funny and cruel mom.

Bolivian Jackpot

March 24, 2009

While trolling the web for a bowler hat like the vibrantly dressed Bolivian women wear, I came upon caserita.com. It doesn’t carry bowler hats but does carry beautiful, handmade Bolivian clothing, decorations and accessories at awesome prices. I’m kind of going nuts over this rug, these pillows and all the leather bags.

If you want to play a little game, guess how much each item costs then scroll over the photo for the answer. What fun!

Walls Notebook

I’ve got crazy mad graf skillz. It’s true. You’ve just never seen them because I don’t vandalize property. That is illegal and disrespectful and doesn’t gel with my upstanding lifestyle.

I recently gifted Sherwood Forlee’s Walls Notebook. It’s filled with 80 blank walls to tag. I can’t wait to steal it and burn each page with back-to-back pieces.

You can get a taste of the book here by creating your own emailable piece. And while you’re at it, brush up on the terminology here. Not that I had to or anything.

icecreamlampLighting is something to be taken seriously when decorating and laying out a space. It impacts the entire room and helps create a mood. I can’t understand why there isn’t a domestic consensus on getting this lamp. I mean, really, how can you not want soft serve to light up your day?

The lamp and a bunch of other goodies made for people who enjoy fun are available here or at their store in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
